Your mouth is an extension of your body, so naturally, your oral health will also be an extension of your overall health. At Go Natural Dentistry in Fort Lauderdale, Dr. Cintron and her team believe in this deep connection and strive towards dental care that addresses whole-body health.
Today we explore how the 8th Tooth or the First Incisor is connected to your overall health and wellness, through the use of the Meridian Tooth Chart.
One of the best graphical depictions between oral health and overall health, the Meridian Tooth Chart, is a chart that maps out teeth and the meridians (pathways of energy flowing through your body) that they connect to. Each tooth has a designated meridian which runs through certain organs in your body.
According to the chart, the 8th incisor is connected to the bladder or kidney meridian and its energy flows through the bladder, kidneys and urogenital organs. The main glands in connection to this meridian are the epididymis and pineal gland. It is also connected to the frontal sinus and musculature in the lower extremities. The meridian also runs through the coccyx, sacrum, posterior knee and foot.
The meridian also has relationships with moods such as anger, fear and sadness. It can affect your conceptual connections, hormonal capacity, mental dynamics, emotional stability, sterility and vitality.
This means that issues with the first incisor can also bring about bladder, kidney or urogenital issues as well as hormonal or mood issues and vice versa.
For example, one patient who approached Go Natural Dentistry for treatment had damaged her first incisor in a car accident, while she had a root canal done post-accident, she started getting sick in the areas connected to the meridian of her tooth. She recently had the incisor removed at Go Natural Dentistry, and now she feels much healthier.
If you’re suffering from any of these problems and think it’s connected to your oral health, don’t hesitate to give us a call at (855) 381-6001 and book an appointment.
