Stress-free dentistry is possible with sedation options

Most people don’t look forward to visiting the dentist’s office. In fact, for some people, the mere thought of it makes them anxious and worried and can often leave them avoiding their appointments. Some fear the uncertainty of potential issues. Others may have had a traumatic experience in the past that’s had a lasting effect. Unfortunately, avoiding the dentist, no matter the reason, can put your oral health and overall wellbeing at risk.
At Go Natural Dentistry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, we have many years of experience working with patients who experience dental fears and phobias to provide stress-free dentistry. We can help our patients relax and feel comfortable in the dental chair with sedation dentistry. Our primary goal is the health of all our patients and providing them with a positive dental experience is one of the ways we can ensure they keep up with regular visits. Sedation dentistry allows patients to remain calm and free of anxiety in our office.
Types of sedation
There are various levels of sedation dentistry that we offer at our practice. We will work with you to develop a plan for which type of sedation is best for you based on the impending procedures and your level of anxiety.
- Nitrous Oxide – For patients who have mild fears, nitrous oxide is a calming gas that will relax you during the procedure. One of the most significant advantages of nitrous oxide is that it takes effect very quickly and wears off equally as fast so that you can drive yourself to and from your appointment.
- Oral Conscious Sedation – Our next level of sedation, oral conscious sedation, is an excellent option for patients with a higher level of anxiety or those in need of more extensive dental work. The sedative medication is prescribed to patients before the appointment and has a relaxing, calming effect. Patients will need transportation to and from the procedure.
- IV Sedation – Patients who have extreme phobias or face multiple treatments may need IV sedation. As with oral sedation, patients need to secure transportation to and from their appointment. Patients are awake and able to respond to simple commands but will have little to no memory of the procedure.
Sedation dentistry for special needs
If you or your loved one has special needs, you are likely acutely aware of the stress dental visits can cause. It can be challenging for individuals with special needs to sit in the dental chair for extended periods. Furthermore, sometimes the sounds and smells inside the dental office can induce stress. Sedation dentistry is an excellent way to ensure that you or your loved one gets the care you need to have a healthy, beautiful smile for life.
Dental anxiety does not have to put your health at risk. At Go Natural Dentistry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, we are committed to making your visit as calm and stress-free as possible. If you would like more information on our sedation dentistry solutions, call our office today at (855) 381-6001.
